The
White Rose Rocket Society is a Yorkshire based group of rocket
enthusiasts who have the dream of becoming the first amateur team to put
a rocket in space. It is also involved in developing rocket propulsion
technology which will be simple and low in cost to make the exploration
of space more accessible to the space enthusiast. The X 2000 space programmes aim is to construct the First Privately Funded British Rocket capable of putting satellites into a low earth orbit. The next stage is to move on and develop a rocket capable of putting a person into space, to win the X Prize (the first manned amateur rocket in space - $10,000,000 prize). The first rocket is intended to be launched at the end of summer 1999 with a second launch by the end of 1999. Heading up the programme is project manager Mr Jago Packer and Technical Manager Mr Alan Bullock. Both have considerable experience in rocketry having been involved in several earlier projects as either subcontractors or as consultants. The project relies heavily upon local sponsorship and we would be delighted to hear from any local businessmen in the area who share the societies passion for rocketry, Why not join the society yourself ? || |
